Pops Diner in Carolina Beach

Staff was nice, but the food was terrible/ burnt and over priced.

Weekend trip to Wilmington and needed lunch after the aquarium. Two hangry children under 5, and a baby...oh joy! Got mozzarella sticks, pretzel bites, Italian sub and the Fry Dip. All the food was good, but the service was on point! Everyone was fed and we were out the door in almost no time. Our waiter, was speedy with drink refills and even accommodated the oldest kids request for a specific coloring sheet. Husband loved the Fry Dip and asked me to directly give it credit. We don't write reviews, but felt compelled for the service we received during our visit. Just bummed I can't remember the waiters name. THANKS!

First time in Carolina Beach and we made the best choice of going to Pop’s Diner! On a Tuesday night during mid March, it was not busy but still had an excellent service. There are good selections of food. We all got basket meals. The crabcake patty and fried flounder are amazing! We did not wait long for our meals. The waitress was kind and attentive. The price is average is good for the large portions and two sides.

All the food was great. Especially the shrimp

I overall loved this diner! I am from Maryland and me and my family came here for dinner. I loved the service. The amount we waited was ok for the amount of food we ordered. This place is very friendly.Definitely would recommend this!

No problem with the food here. It was good. However, they added a 10% tip charge to the check and a $1.79 service fee. I saw no signs posted for either of these. So since they determined 10% was good enough, that's all we gave them. Their menu says 15% is added to party's of 6 or more. We paid $50 to eat here too with their bogus fees. It was $41 straight up. Which is still too high for what was ordered.

Eating here was not planned but we are sure glad we did. It was a comfy place to eat and we loved the vintage look that came with it. Service was great along with everything else. Its a great hole in the wall place to stop for a bite to eat.

Delicious burger, nicely seasoned beef, and our waitress was wonderful. It was great to find a place on the Island that we could go and sit down to have a bite to eat after 10 PM. Would definitely recommend again.

I am not a local so I can only speak on my one experience here. Upon arrival there were a lot of people already seated but there were open booths. My party had to wait for several minutes because there were only 2 people working the dining area and we had to wait to be seated.Once seated, drink and food orders were taken pretty quickly. Then we waited approximately 30 minutes before getting our food. It seemed that there were several trainings going on in the area and they were unprepared for the number of customers. The food was typical diner food and would be easily compared to any other "greasy spoon" I've been to but I would not recommend it if you're under time constraints or there is already a crowd.

Had the Cuban and it was phenomenal it is big enough for 2 if you get a side and very filling. The chicken finger basket was enough to feed my 3 kids! I cannot wait to go back and try some more of their tasty foods! Prices are reasonable and staff was very nice and helpful.

We come to CB every year and always enjoy their sandwiches and friendly workers! Didn’t disappoint even with COVID and the new regulations :)

Love this place. I'm from Fayetteville I work all over the state including Raleigh and this is the best restaurant I've been to in all surrounding counties the service is fantastic the food is exceptional.

Best place for a cheat meal! So many choices, there is something on the menu for everyone (except very healthy options, but who goes to a diner for that?) and they get all the important simple things right. Awesome service from Hunter our waiter. Like a diner right out of a movie. Perfect. Open 7 days a week too!

Really good bbq and really good vinegar bbq sauce onions rings are great!!!..the hush puppies was still kinda raw tho but over all very good and delicious

Order Took a long time, but every restaurant here had a wait this past weekend. I got a double cheeseburger with slaw, mustard, onions and Swiss cheese. That was 4 days ago and I want another one...but it’s 2.5hours away 🤷🏽‍♂️

Extremely expensive and they tack on a gratuity of Lights 30% morosely charge you extra put to go orders I would not recommend this place and the food was not good

Great food and service. I go to Carolina Beach just to eat at Pop’s! Haven’t had one bad experience any of the times I have gone. I do wish they had a changing station for babies.

We loved going for their burgers after karaoke until 1am across the street. They make their bbq sauce in house and it is AMAZING. Best fries we've ever had because they are cooked to a nice brown. The staff is great. Considering how close it is to the beach, the price can't be beat either. We go every time we visit Wilmington.

I ordered the chicken tenders, fries, and corn. The tenders were some of the best I've eaten. The fries and corn were great as well. My husband ordered the fried shrimp with slaw. He said the shrimp was great and the slaw was just ok. My three kids ate most of their food which was a huge deal! We waited a while on our food and it was a little pricey($70 for 5 meals including tip) but we would eat here again.

This is our first trip to CB. The food was good. The wait time wasn’t so bad either. Our waitress was nice and friendly however they charged 10% to eat in or take out then we had a party of 3 adults 1 teen and 2 children so naturally they charged us another 8% gratuity. We of course paid with a debit or credit card, charged a service fee of $2.50. I understand the gratuity charge but seriously your charging us to give you business during this unprecedented time of COVID

Must have visited on an off day because the whole dining experience was awful. Had to ask for napkins. No refills on the water. Barbecue was awful. The hush puppies were so burnt they were black.

Great food friendly staff, not a fan of these takeout fees and service fees though. Hopefully its just temporary due to corona. Spent almost $8 on fees alone yesterday.

we stopped by because it was one of the only restaurants open when we were in town. the staff was super friendly, the food got to our table very quickly and the portions were HUGE. everyone at our table really enjoyed their food and the prices seemed very reasonable. great bang for your buck and super cute atmksphere!

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Carolina Beach. The food is delicious and there is a large variety of items the menu. You can get all types of sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs and various platters. There is a good choice of appetizers which are good as munchy food or part of a dinner. The portions are a very good size and served hot. The wait staff are very personable and it has a very relaxing atmosphere. The desserts looked delicious, but after the meal we were unable to eat any more. A good reason to return. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Was sat immediately, served immediately and everyone had good vibes. We ordered fried pickles as an app, 2 sodas, and a root beer float to start. They came out quick and were delicious. As entrees, we had the bbq basket with deep fried sweet corn on the cob and mac salad along with an Italian sub. Our food came as ordered, service was great and food was amazing. Cons:The noodles in the Mac salad were overcooked until mushy so I couldn’t eat it. Also we asked for napkins three times, I ended up washing my hands in the bathroom. The bathroom has a doorknob instead of a push/pull bar so I opened it with greasy hands leaving it dirty for the next guest. All guests should be given napkins here, every food is finger food, this is a huge mgmt oversight.

They have the greatest corn dogs ever!!! My family and I enjoy this restaurant every time we visit carolina beach!!!

HANDS DOWN the best place to go eat when you're done with your walk about in CB. During the summer hours they are open until 3. And the Mac N Cheese bites are heavenly.

The service was fast and friendly and the food tasted amazing from the hot dogs to the cheese burgers and the ice cream. The prices were unbeatable. Definitely will be going back

Very quick service, very pleasant, delicious food. My only complaint would be that the prices are a tad high but the food quality is outstanding so its not too big a negative. If you like down home style flavors, definitely stop by.

Great sandwiches and desserts! Just good comfort food nothing fancy but everything real tasty. They are also open late night on the weekends so if you need something to eat after a long night or this is definitely a good option on the island.

Everything was awesome service was incredible Macaroni Salad tasted home made. My wife's flouder sandwich was one of the best she's ever had try the Cajun sauce Very reasonable prices we will be coming back Tess was our waitress great service

Service was horrible, when brought to managers attention she told us "she didn't believe us". Like I have a reason to lie. Another family had spilled food/mustard on the floor. The waitress saw and didn't help clean it up (it was still on the floor as all of us left after eating) nor did she give any table napkins for anything. We asked for napkins 3 times and got 5 napkins for a table of 8 people. Also if you go there CHECK YOUR RECEIPT! They can not add and also added 20% instead of 10%. To our table it was 2 checks and BOTH we're not added right. We were told the reason was bc they were short staffed, short staff or not the chick had 3 tables and didn't take care of them. But I must say we all enjoyed the food very much all of us did actually. The food was the best part.

Not a very welcoming atmosphere right off the bat. The food was okay for me, but my friend's burger was drenched in oil & soggy. Definitely not the best in my experience.

Not good. Small portions and my food was poorly packaged. I spent five bucks for a handful of onion rings.

Staff is very friendly, and the restaurant is clean. The "Dinky" burger is a good size, not very dinky.I'm not a small dude, and it filled me up. The food is great! Fries and onion rings are fresh and crispy, and taste awesome. We're going to visit every time we go to the beach.
